Gas permeability refers to the ability of gas to pass through a material. Gas permeability differs according to the type of gas, temperature, the type of material and the material’s cross-link density. Generally speaking, nylon, PVC and isobutylene-isoprene rubber have low gas permeability, and silicone rubbers are highly permeable.
